How it began

Growing up, my family and I would spend the holidays at my Grandparent's house. Grandma would keep the last pairs of Great Grandmother's hand knit slippers in the bottom drawer of the dresser. GG would make the slippers and then attach whatever she could find to use as the soles. Being a big family the shoes went quick. Eventually, I was on my last pair but never got to wear them out because my dog got to them first. I didnt want to say goodbye to my Great Grandmother's creation, so what you see today is my effort to keep the creation alive! Hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

The Dresser

Where you would get your hand knit Great Granny slippers

The Sole

Using whatever was available, the soles were sewn onto the bottom to protect the knit from wearing out.

The Originals

Pairs that still lay in the upstairs dresser.

  • Great Great Grandma

Where the shoes originated. Passing down the knitting technique to her daughter.
  • Great Grandma

Learning the technique and how to make these now nostalgic shoes from her mother. She would knit many pairs in all sorts of sizes and colors using whatever she could get her hands on for the sole.
  • Grandma

As a young mother, she became busy raising a big family. Since she didn't learn the knitting process, she would make due by fixing the soles to elongate the life of her mother's creations. Saving what remains of the shoes in the upstairs dresser.
